Bathroom remodeling is serious work. As and when one finds friends and relatives with amenities and facilities which are worth having in the washroom, it is obvious one feels like re-doing up this space oneself as well. However, this should not just be the only consideration while taking on this feat – that you stay one up in the race to have the best house ever!

Thus, one comes to the next most obvious question – what all does one take into account when you take up such remodeling work? First and foremost, costing and budgetary control is important. While this is necessary work, is it worth spending your year’s savings on? Or can one have some sense in this entire endeavour?

Also, try to keep the space factor in mind, at all times. Do not overcrowd your bathroom to the extent that it ceases to be a place one can venture into for not just ablutions and the like, but also for getting some calm in one’s life. A bathroom should be a place where one can sit around reading the morning newspapers, and a nook where one can get some quietude. All this and more can happen when there is some space around and you are not banging into one feature or another at all times in here. Thus, if you can do without a shower area and a bathtub just to have some breathing area, do so. Do not go ahead and opt for both separately. Instead, have a shower in the bathtub itself.

Also, do keep in mind the size of the faucets and the shower nozzles and the like. Do not waste water. It is a highly precious commodity, and more so in these times. In addition, do not go overboard in getting the fanciest and snazziest of bathroom accessories. This is not to say that one should not pamper one’s aesthetic sense at all. But everything within limits is the golden rule of the thumb here.

Try to build in a nook for magazines, newsletters and other reading material. Take time and effort out to become a reader, if you are not one already. A good-sized side cupboard with all that is needed here is a must. The lotions, shampoos, creams, oils, toothpastes brushes and potions should not be just lying around here and there. If you do not have a designated spot for these, make one during your bathroom remodeling.

Install a fan, a ceiling fan or one on the side, either will do. But there should be a way to dry up the bathroom after the regular round of mopping up as fast as is possible. This is one quick and sureshot way to getting a spotlessly clean space. Lighting fixtures in this one arena, too, should be thought of carefully. One can go all jazzy in this if one really wants a hotel replicated in one’s personal space. The choice is yours. But do keep in mind to have low wattage bulbs or tubes to ease the drain on our electricity consumption levels.
